Fill in the blank Friday, Movies Edition

 Themes are fun. Love them.
Follow other's blogs, especially Laurens!
It's always fun to see what other people say.
Enjoy!

1. My absolute favorite movie of all time is      "Hope Floats" we even used the song from it in our wedding. Maybe that's why I like it so much. I also like the name Birdee.  .

2.  My favorite movie as a child was      "Marry Poppins", of course. I would actually hope to be sick so I could stay at home and watch it followed by "Labrynth" .

3.  The best movie quote ever is       from "Hope Floats" when Bernice and Birdee are talking and Bernice starts with, "My dad says that childhood is the happiest time of my life. But, I think he's wrong. I think my mom's right. She says that..." [Birdee says,]  "Childhood is what you spend the rest of your life trying to overcome. That's what momma always says. She says that beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it's the middle that counts the most. Try to remember that when you find yourself at a new beginning. Just give hope a chance to float up. And it will, too... " .

4.  My favorite actress is    I'm a Meryil Streep fan. Love her in "The Hours"     My favorite actor is    well it's not because he's really good, it's because he's cute- Gerard Butler  .

5.  The movie I could watch over and over is     "Pretty in Pink".    .

6.  My favorite movie genre is      Independent. Any Focus features are good too. I'm very much looking forward to "Babies" coming out in May  .

7.  A movie I'd like to watch this weekend is     "Daybreakers". But I don't think it's out yet on DVD. I'm a sucker for any vampire movies.

Happy Friday!

The whole family

(first a shout out to my dear dear friend Rebecca. She just gave me her Nikon D40 to use this week for whatever reason I wanted. Sweet. I mean, she has a baby and I have birds and cats. It doesn't seem right that I am the one dominating the camera. So thanks to Bec for letting me FINALLY take some good quality pictures! I am a picture taking FOOL this week!)

So check this sweetness out:

.just. babies.

.mommy and babies.

.mommy's BFF, mommy and babies.

.mommy, daddy and babies.

Isn't he a handsome devil?
I did a bit of research about these common  yet cutie pie birds.
The female picks the mate. She tries to find the reddest one she can find.
He looks pretty red to me. Good job, Birdie.
Also, they both take a part in the feeding. He will feed her and she will feed the babies.
That's sweet. Very human-like. He's the main provider per se. She gets up during the night to feed them. Adorable.
Neither of them named their kids, I did.
There are 4.
Bernice
Justin
Sandra
Harry

There's a theme? Do you get it??

Musical Blanks

I LOVE the music theme for today's blanks!
Thanks, Lauren! I think her graphic is sweet too. I stole it :)

1. One song that always takes me back to my youth is    A-ha's Take on Me.  JAM!    .

2.  My first concert ever was     Janet Jackson on her Rythm Nation Tour. I planned my outfit for weeks. Stonewashed jeans with zippers, tapestry vest with a lace collared shirt finished with Keds and a pink bow in my side pony tailed permy fluff hair .

3.  If I could create my dream music festival I'd want these bands to be there:      I agree with Lauren- 80's Madonna! New Kids on the Block, John Mayer, Imogen Heap, The Cranberries, 90's Pearl Jam and David Bowie  (random much?) .

4.  The best make-out/"boot knocking" song ever is     oh geeze. Well. IF I was to pick one...perhaps Freak Me by Silk (kind of embarrassed I know that one) or a more conservative Your Body is a Wonderland by John Mayer followed by anything Robin Thicke    .

5.  The best concert I've ever been to was     Jimmy Eat World with John. We were just falling in love and it was a perfect first concert with him! It was Sweetness for sure.

6.  A memorable musical moment for me was       going to the symphony in 3rd grade. We listened to the songs we'd be hearing for weeks in our music class and they really played it up for us, how elegant and special it would be. Since I had just started playing the flute, I was SUPER intriuged and wanted to be in the symphony.   I really felt as high-society as an 8 year old can. I also planned my outfit for weeks with this too    .

7.  The song on my iPod that's getting the most play these days is      old school Desperation Band- Amazed. It's  a good reminder of who I am in Jesus, an instant encouragement to praise.    .

Have a great weekend. Jam out
to some Eddie Vedder or Janet Jackson and think of me!

They're Here!!

Oh man, I wish I had a super zoomer camera right now. I am really missing it. Especially now!

Birdie had her babies!
I went to look out the window on Monday and there were little fuzzy baby birds bobbing around and beaks open. Birdie was hopping around trying to keep them warm and adjusting them. I can't quite tell how many there are. I see one consistently. He's always popping his head up. I see little flutters but that's all.
Soon, they will be big, open-eyed birdies.

I have names for them but I don't know how many there are so...

Anyway. I am going to keep trying to get good shots of them and monitor their progress.
I always get worried that she isn't there with them all of the time but it can't be comfortable for her to be sitting on the edge of the nest. She's out looking for baby food, I suppose.

can you see the little head there??

Side note :My dad raised a bird that fell out of a nest. It was a starling, I think. We named him Clarence. My dad got up several times a night and fed him every hour for every day until we eventually took him to our lake property and let him go. It was one of the sweetest things we ever saw when he came back and landed on my dads head during lunch. He did that for a couple of times then finally never came back.

So sweet.

Bad Old Lady Experience..

An old woman...pardon me, an Elderly Lady yelled at me today for no reason and it made me very sad.
It was like my own grandmother was yelling at me. Just because she didn't like my response time and didn't care to hear about my rules as an employee. I helped her anyway and was as gracious as I could be while she cut me down with her remarks one at a time, complaining and belittling whilst she spewed negative words to me.

I didn't see her point in being so grouchy with me.
And she left me almost in tears.

I probably in her eyes now don the title of "ill-mannered young person" or something.
I don't know why but when an elderly person stomps away from you
you can assume, they aren't very pleased with you.
(I give her credit for still being able to stomp)

Dang.

I guess we all have bad days but geesh!

I hope I am not crotchety and mean [now] when I am older.
I really hope not.

Rather I hope to be an example of :

the wise, godly character that comes with age,
graciousness that is born out of years of practice,
patience that covers a multitude of blunders and
an air of godliness that stays long after I leave.

I don't want to be some young girls bad lady experience.
Ever.

A Sunday bit of fun

This past weekend was another relaxing bit of wonderfulness.

On Sunday we went with some friends to Caryle Lake for some fishing (those poor fishies with the hooks in their faces) and a cook out. I caught one and felt so sad about it, I let him go and didn't try again.

We went with Bart and Marianna, two of the most layed-back -easy -to -be -with -people ever.
I LOVE being with them. They are so sweet and caring... Considerate and funny. The list goes on.
These are the kind of friends I love. It's easy and breezy with them!

Loved it.

I don't know how much longer I can stand these phone pictures.
I am ready for a new camera :)

Something new...

Hey!
I started another blog.
It's more of a spiritual journey than an every day goings on post place.

It's a bit raw sometimes. But it's real.
It's testing my need for comfort and no vulnerability.
BUT
I feel a lot freer posting the REAL side of living..

Read and share your thoughts.

Hopefully there are more days of encouragement than not that come from it..

Blankety Blank

I loved this picture that Lauren posted along with today's blanks. Made me feel tropical and fun.
I have really enjoyed doing this fill in the blanking every Friday. Props to Lauren for her creativeness and her committed efforts! I LOVE consistency!
Have a great weekend and do something new this weekend. Something never done before!

1.  The first thing I do in the morning is     clean off all the cat toys ("presents") that Dante' brought to our bed in the middle of the night  .

2.  Every night before bed  I   put an insane amount of hand cream on and read my Bible.

3.  My favorite thing to do when I'm having a bad day is      do something creative. Working in the garden, making crafty things, baking and be with a friend  .

4.  Something that makes me cringe is     having to touch paper bags..like the kind you get your groceries in or take your lunch in. Also, touching cardboard about makes me gag if I think about it.

5.  Social situations    don't have to be awkward. They can be exciting and entertaining  .

6.  I like to collect      Fiestaware, owl-ish things and anything from Anthropology.  I would like to start a vintage collection of some sort like tea towels or old garden tools. I could see myself being one of those old ladies with a million garden decorations. I hope this doesn't come true though   .

7.  Weekends are for      not working. EVER. But more importantly- relaxing, enjoying [the outside!] recharging and reconnecting with your loves    .

Still Pregnant

She's feathering her nest a lot more these days and is leaving it less and less. She is so dedicated and cute.
I just named her Birdie. Like in Hope Floats. Also, she's a bird. It makes sense. So naturally one of her daughters will be named Bernice.

She is getting more and more used to us checking on her through the blinds all of the time. She'll have a stare down with us. She wins. This morning she acted aloof.

I did a little more research and she's a House Finch.
A sweet one at that. Her husband flies around once in a while but I think he's seeing someone else because he's not very consistent with his visits.

this was taken with my phone. the blinds are what you see on the bottom..

Oh, Dang! I love a relaxing weekend

Preface: I broke my camera a week or so ago and I am about to spaz out not being able to take pictures of this BEAUTIFUL weather and season change. This has to be one of the most beautiful and bright springs ever. (Maybe this past winter was just more drab and depressing than usual??)

We are looking for a new camera. This is a big decision and lots of money to spend so I am trying to take my time and not just emotionally buy one based off of the fact of my picture taking withdrawals.
(sidenote: my Nana (pretty awesome photographer, Lorraine Pacheco) is giving me her old school Pentax K1000. So I can learn to take pictures requiring skill!)

So, I stole pictures to illustrate my
relaxing,
warm,
green,
fresh aired,
productive
weekend

So it started with a relaxing evening with my love on Friday. A night out to dinner and a movie (that we both slept through) at home. Thank you Bruce Willis and your Surrogates for lulling me to sleep.

Then Saturday I had the day to  myself since John went mushroom hunting with a friend.
I started the day by waking up sometime after 9, which is amazing for me. I usually wake up before my alarm during the week so the lazy morning was great! Then I took a country drive and went shopping by myself.
Starting with a stop at a local antique shop
I didn't get anything but I was searching for vintage Fiestaware and other various goodies.
I like these enamalish tea pots!

Then on to
Starbucks to get a Banana Chocolate Vivano Smoothie.
Have you tried these!?! Oh man! I drank it in under 5 minutes. It was the best. But left me chilled to the bone as I entered Garden Ridge.
I am always overwhelmed when I go into a place like GR or Old Time Pottery. Overwhlemed at the cheapness of a garden gnome and overwhelmed by the pluthera of THINGS. I bought cheese popcorn, eucalyptus and poptpouri sachets.
Weird.
I should have bought the gnomes.
After feeling a bit disorderly in my brain for the GR experience I went to one of my favorites
World Market.
Seriously? I can't go in this place and not love everything I see. It's not possible.
I was loving particularly these pieces of art. (I have an unhealthy love for stretched canvas and framed art..we need an art room someday where I can just put all of my random arts that are currently in the attic or the closet- both such fine places for art.)

I got some cute hanging crystal tea light things for our room and some jasmine green tea. It's my favorite.
also, I want one of these. It will suffice since Le Cruesets are just a large tadge out of my price range

Then I went next door to Target.
Oh, Target! you and I are meant to be.
I did a lot of damage.
But this is my excuse:

So I did some "therapy" here.
Have you seen their Libery of London line. Everything you could immagine has precious floral patterns on it.
Binkinis, dresses, purses, tea cups, boxer shorts, plates and bedding just to name a few.
I  L O V E floral prints.
I was particulary loving these things :

I  don't even like pink but I want to have a girl soon so I can implement this cutie pie bedding!
It could work for a boy too, right??

After too much spending (not on any of the above items) I got myself a bagel at St. Louis bread company..and an ice cream cone at McDonald's
and headed home to a lovely night of grocery shopping (which oddly, I love) and more relaxing.

Sunday morning was a beautifully spent at church. We sang an acoustic set that morning.
It was a welcomed switch!
I made a new recipe for lunch that John picked out from the teacher lounge magazine
It was chicken and tarragon with new potatoes and leeks.
Uh- mazing. That's what it was!

John and I did yard work ALL day, accompanied by blaring 70's music. It motivates us.
I left a rice pudding in the oven for 4 hours, no big deal. That was only 8 times longer than I should have left it in. That's what I get for multi-tasking.

We planted a yellow rose bush

and also planted my potted mini Christmas tree
that was almost dead. I hope it pulls through.

Dang, I love a relaxing weekend.

We had no obligations or plans- this was nice.
We connected, my love and I. We team-worked the yard and got a lot accomplished together.
We took time to stop and smell the fresh cut grass, the new roses and actually had time to rest.
By far, my favorite weekend of the year so far!
