What's Best

I've been lacking in blog posts. I'm inspired but my time is precious. My free time is spent outside or resting these days.  We love this early spring weather!  Lots of wonderful things are going on at my house. Most of them baby related, of course.
I'm consumed and obsessed with my daughter. Her and I are two peas in a pod.  I'm convinced that having a daughter was the best thing God could have done for me.  He always knows what's best.

And it's her.

With that said,
I'm giving up Misinterpretations.

I have lots of things I'd love to blog about but most of them do well to just stay in my head for now.  I will keep writing periodically at my other blog,  Surrender Story.

If you want to keep up with the baby, visit   *here*  often. It's her picture site.

Thanks for all of the sweet e-mails, comments and connections you've offered over the past few years!

Much Love,
Missy

Get inspired by these Blogging Beauties!

Mondays are a great day to get inspired.
Here are a couple of new "friends" I have found in the blog world who inspire me greatly!
Check them out if you have time:

Jessica @ Happy Together is so cute!
Check out her maternity picture dress. Oh man. So cute and creative.
I think this will be a fun place for fun home and "mom" ideas!
I am wanting to do a chalkboard project in my house and THIS  gem is so awesome!
Look and drool!

Sneak Peak:

My new real-life kindred friend, Tanya, who blogs over @ Percolating Projects
is a creative genius!
I think we are going to have fun junking (as she calls it) adventures and work ourselves into a project frenzy.. or work our husbands into a "oh man, you are doing what now?" frenzy. Either, or.
She's fun! Also, funny. I love it when great bloggers don't take themselves too seriously and have a sense of humor.
She just builds her own bed and stuff like that, no big deal...

Wowzers.

And last but not least, Lauren @ Because I'm Yours.
What an uplifting blog!
Encouraging, real, Jesus-filled and fun to look at :)
I stop in regularly to get motivated and reminded of Whose I am..
Read this post on Extending Grace. It's filled with truth and goodness!

I love other's who share their creativity in humble way!
I  somtimes think I am creative but really I think it's a spazzy mind that I like to call a pretty word: creative.

Get inspired with me and check these ladies out!

Happy reading and project-ing!

Project time!

I like to call it "first stage nesting".
I am sort of going project crazy.
I think there are just so many things to be done and squared away before the Sweet One gets here.

So far, here is the checklist:

o   Recover(maybe repaint)glider
o   Paint nursery
o   Carpet nursery (maybe)
o   Buy baby furniture
o   Make baby art
o   Redesign the living room {cheaply!}
o   Sand and repaint my china cabinet
o   Rearrange my bedroom to accommodate Sassafrass’s bassinet
o   Repaint the shutters that were once red and are now  80’s mauve
o   Organize garage sale items and price them
o   Go through 25 years of family pictures and scrapbook them for my parents
ü  Consolidate closets
ü  Install more storage cabinets
ü  Go through baby memorabilia

That’s it for today…

I think all of these things are totally doable by August. If not, then wahtevs.
But, I know once She arrives those things will go to page 500 of my priority list for all of eternity.
Ok, maybe that's a bit extreme. But you get the point, they won't be at the top of my list. I won't even HAVE a list for a long while.
Although, I like to think that I may be quite organized as a first-time mom. We shall see.
So far, here are a couple of little successes:

'Made new pillows for the living room
that one day will get a facelift
and obviously, I am a little excited about this fabric from Urban
that I have had forevah, I'm making everything out of it!

Our recovered piano bench (which took me only 15 minutes!)

and here is the glider that needs a makeover
got this little gem for free from my friend Danielle!
and praise be that I finally get to sell that heinous rug you see.
It was a wedding present from one of John's military room-mates.
I've lived with it for 6 1/2 years and I ready for someone else to experience
 the joy of owning it..

So that's it for now. We will see if my to-do list shrinks anytime soon.
Right now I am off to start organizing 5,000 photos..
Wish me luck!

Success

So last week I had to figure something out for dinner. I wanted something light but that was super flavorful.

I made up my own version of Tortilla Soup.
It worked!

I just put most of it in the Crockpot at lunchtime and then added the rest an hour before we ate.
Delicious!

I can't say that it was too difficult.
I just thought of all the things I would like to eat in a soup and put it in there.

Topped with fresh Cilantro, blue corn chip crumbles and  cheese, it was great..and fresh!

Of course, it had to be in complimentary Fiestaware bowls.

This is what I did:

Put chicken tenderloins in a carton of chicken broth in the crockpot
along with :
cumin
S and P
diced tomatoes with green chilis
and some sprigs of cilantro for more flavor

and I let that cook for  4 hours
then an hour before I added
corn and black beans

topped it with fresh cilantro and corn chips and cheese.

It was pretty fabulous, I think.
