My Calling is calling..

"If one life is affected, it's monumental with unusual perspective.."

I received the last bit of Haiti info in the mail yesterday. Our flights are set and our list of what to bring is extensive! We are making the final preparations for this life changing even that is about to happen for my baby sister and I.

If you have donated financially to our trip, THANK YOU! We obvioiusly would not be going if it was not for the financial support of people willing to sacrifice and invest in such a ministry. We still have a few hundred dollars left to raise but so far, I'm not stressing about it. Until two weeks ago I didn't think we would be going but just as always, God provides a way. I am sure he won't quit providing now! We are blessed by your support and are eager to carry on the blessing to the children and staff at The Mission of Hope as well as those in the villages!

Whether you have or have not been able to support us financially but would like to help still, below is a list of what the Mission needs. They run off of donations and support from various missions groups and organizations around the globe. So we need to take some items down there to help them continue to care for the orphans, villagers and needy that come their way. Their hospital is a new addition to the campus so have a great need for items such as:

antibiotic cream
eye drops
ibuprofen
cough medicine
children's vitamins
antacids
cotton balls
antibacterial soap bars
infant formula (all kinds)
diapers
baby wipes
paper perforator
ink cartridges (Lexmark 28, HP 21,22,27,28)
clocks
staple removers
boxes of paper fasteners
toothbrushes and toothpaste
bath soap
all sizes of children's underwear and socks
liquid paper corrector
stapler and staples
calculator
scissors

Pray for us as we continue to prepare! We are excited and nervous all at the same time. Expecting the unexpected. I immagine my heart will be broken and encouraged all at the same time. How do you really prepare for such an experience?

I'll keep you posted!

My Projects, My Passion

The greatest gift of the garden is the restoration of the five senses. ~Hanna Rion

I love being outside. I love anything naturey. Planting things, watching them grow, making pretty landscapes and colorful combinations are basically a passion of mine. Its a creative outlet and being creative relaxes, inspires and fulfills me. I have been redoing my kitchen for about 6 months and its still not finished. Completing my garden endeavor has been a much quicker process! I have painting projects left to finish before I leave for Haiti too. The list gets longer the more I think about it.We need to repaint the garage..repaint the shutters...refinish the wood floors..get new mulch out..

Moving right along-

We started our garden again this year. We planted only watermelons in our little garden with a container of tomatoes courtesy of some of our friends seedlings. Last year our tomatoes didn't do so well. I am hoping by isolating them I will see better ones this year. I am really excited about the melons though. I could live off of watermelon in the summertime. Seriously.

I planted my container gardens last night. They look a bit sparse right now but this time next month, they will be flourishing and cascading down the side of the planter. I am into begonias all of the sudden. My grandma had begonias in her garden when I was younger and I think that is why I love them so much. Her garden was gorgeous. She had a rose garden with a variety of different kinds of fragrant roses. I am not there yet! Someday I want a rose garden too. Maybe at our next house we will have room to do that. That's my excuse for everything lately. "Oh I'll just do that in my next house..." What if I never move? I may be missing out.

Here are some pics so far of what I have going on outside. Nothing to enter into Better Homes and Gardens but I love looking at it all :)

On Prayer

I was watching a series of sermon videos by John Piper on prayer.

This one particularly quickened my spirit and opened my eyes a bit more.
