Sweet tooth

I am not a big sugar person. I don't always need dessert.
I like cake-ish things. Brownies, cupcakes stuff like that. And I like Dagoba's Xocalatl chocolate. OY!

The chiropractor, YES the chiropractor, said I needed to give my liver a rest once again. He put me on a Milk Thistle detox something or other.
I did no sugar for 3 weeks last fall and it was awesome minus the 3 days of withdrawals that were similar to crack withdrawal (I'm feeling dramatic today). After I got over the hump I was good and felt UH-Mazing.
Yep. That good.
Anyway, he reminded me that the only difference between sugar and arsenic is time. Whoa. It just got serious in here.
So the less I put in my body the better off I am in the long run I suppose

My poison is Coke. I gave up artificial sweeteners so I don't do Diet Dr. Pep anymore.
This little illustration I found is slightly incorrect because I looked at the Coke at work and it has 39 grams of sugar but check it out anyway:
There are 40.5 grams of sugar in a 12 oz can of Coke.
Forty grams of sugar is the equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar.
10 teaspoons of sugar is the equivalent of 20 sugar cubes

  • I would never just sit and eat 20 sugar cubes!! ( I know I said I wouldn't use umbrella/ blanket statements anymore but this calls for an exception)
I usually only have soda  when I go to the movies or when I am craving sugar.

Anyway this is way more doable than my raw food diet. That was so gross. I won't even lie. Here's a little reminder of what it looked like:

I was not meat to eat like a forest herbivore.

A new start and a finished week

I stopped. Yep.
A 3 day jump start was what I needed. Not eating wasn't an option for me.
Yesterday night I enjoyed myself a little (big) dinner.
It was a splurge and it wasn't all that healthy per se but it was
DELICIOUS.
So this morning, I took what I had learned in principle about the ways of eating and started to apply it.
This was my breakfast.
Scrumptious. And by the way I love flax seeds. They are becoming my version of salt. I put them on everything!

And here we are again: Fill in the Blank Friday courtesy of Lauren at The Little Things We Do

1.  The best thing about being in school was/is       skipping class and laying in the grass outside of the Education building and also, the constant slumber party of college dorms. It was so fun and I got away with a lot of silly things!

2.  The worst thing about being in school was/is      Elementary Education homework. I'd rather would have done sociology homework. With El Ed you spend hours cutting things out. I am not good with scissors .

3.  My favorite subject in school was/is     English and Biology in high school and Child Psych and Astronomy in college  .

4.  One subject I wish I could have mastered/would like to master is       a foreign language. Maybe Spanish, maybe Italian. Not many schools teach Italian though   .

5.  I could never get tired of studying    Art  .

6.  The most memorable teacher I had was     Mrs. Tidball. She turned EVERYTHING into a lesson. And I loved biology because of her. In college, Dr.'s Curry and Dr. Grill! Dr. Curry related with me in a way that made me feel entirely special. Dr. Grill made me love phsychology   .

7.  If I could choose between going to school for the rest of my life or working for the rest of my life, I'd choose     neither. There is a time for both and I love both but I wasn't made do either full time and eternally.

2 for 1 Thursday

Lets get business out of the way.
Day 3 of the detox and I am in the "dislike" stage

Not a fan
And I weighed myself and I am heavier??
Confused about that one. Maybe it has nothing to do with it. Plus this is about being healthy not shedding water weight.

Either way..It's not my favorite thing I have ever done.
I may just be doing a 3 day jump start to diet overhaul.
That seems much more doable.

In some ways I feel like a quitter but in other ways I feel starving so...I'd rather be alive than be a winner.
Just being honest there.

But today I went home for lunch and made this "soup" they recommend.
Which I am sure, if anyones else made, would taste great. But I made it and so therefore I ate two bites and then gave up and ate a banana.

I am being a baby I am pretty sure. Everyone on the site and the forum says how WONDERFUL it is and how they feel so full and  look forward to their smoothies and recipes.
Not Missy.

I have no alternate plans to eat McDonald's or anything I just want something else.
I am bitter-ish at the moment...It's that mid-day hunger rage mania I get.

So this is the smoothie I made..looks healthy-ish

Yes and it was. But I had an issue with it's texture after it was all blended..

John was trying to force himself to eat/drink/choke this down.

So onto fun things

I went garage sale-ing this past weekend with my friend Rebecca and her joey, Ogden.
I found some fun things.
A vintagey old camera for 50 cents
some doilies for $1
Vintage wrapping paper $1
Vintage nesting tea tins 50 cents
A cabinet for the baby's room $8
Then we went to antique stores and she surprised me and got me a Honey Bee sign for my kitchen.
"It's bee-licious"
It's one of those vintage tin signs and it hold significance because my name actually means "honey bee".
She's a thoughtful friend like that. Not just presents, but presents with meaning and significance. She speaks my love language fluently.

Then
I got some rad canisters for my kitchen. I am slightly obsessed with them.
They aren't Fiestaware but they are beautiful and mix well with the F-ware.

So I am excited about these things.I hope to  do some sort of project with this paper..maybe frame it..actually use it for presents..I don't know. I just really wanted it.

Anyway that's what I am NOT excited about today and what I am excited about today. 2 for the price of 1.
